For anyone who is interested I've started my Camaro project page for the cars I bought and have been taking pics of. http://projectz28lt.s5.com/ Just a backup mostly of my photos but I'll be uploading the rest as I get time, and uploading my project journal for progress up till now. |

At the moment there isn't any engine in it. It had a 400, and ran a 6.0 last time it was ran before the dissambly at the drag strip (still wrote on the windshield with white shoe polish). Its got it's stock positraction rear end in it though, that might get rebuilt before its all said and done. I haven't really decided yet what I want to do with it, stock, or street pro drag. Last time I drove a 79 z28 it had its stock engine in it and it scared the crap out of me. just driving from my drive way to a friends house 5 houses down. Was pure adrenaline. (and that engine was even bored 60 over...) It will take some getting use too. I got that big hood with the scoop on it but I'm really more into the stock look cause Im getting a stock decal kit after its painted, so I'll probably use the stock hood off the Type-LT and rivit on the 78-79 z28 scoop. The Stock engine made exactly the same way is about 1500$ and about another 400 for the transmission. BUT I do have a HUGE olds engine behind the shead I've never done anything with. Not sure what it even is but its a big block im pretty sure. It would be cheeper if I already had the block and just bought a rebuild kit. Just sticking a beast like that into a camaro might be a challange. (although there was plenty of room left with the 400 thats not exactly a big block either) It would be good for a cost effective way to get it going again with in the time frame I have set. Over all budget is about 6000$ per car. Thats with me doing all the major body work and welding. Natuarrly I won't be spending that all at once so one car will get up and running before the other even gets touched (IF it ever gets touched I never got any paper work on the LT.) |

Having issues taking the supid thing apart. some of the intake bolts are rounded off and fussed to it. and the head bolts are on with so much torque ive broken 3 socket wrenches lol (one was a craftsman) another thing I been working on is my friends Dirt track car. Its not much were starting small, pure mini. SO its a ford escort GT but its pretty quick. not sure the engine size but its got double over head cam. little bugger wil lscoot pretty good. I'll be driving it for the first time on the track this weekend. |

I found the casting numbers on the engine I got. Although its a HUGE engine, it seems that it is just an olds 350. If it was a 350 rocket I might have kept it, but it seems the only thing that would make me want to consider keeping it is its high nickel content. I finally got the dashboard loose on the z28. I'll probalby finish removing the rest of the interrior including the steering wheel and colum (its got tilt steering and the other dont). --Last edited by Sirenix on 2008-04-28 22:05:14 -- |
